THE FIRST STUDENT HOUSING FACILITY FOR AURARIA CAMPUS WILL OPEN AUGUST 22—APPLICATIONS NOW BEING TAKEN ONLINE FOR 307 BEDS

DENVER – The first of its kind, The Regency: Auraria’s Student Housing Community, LLC will open August 22, and is now accepting reservations from full and part time students who will register for classes this fall at the University of Colorado at Denver, Metropolitan State College, and Community College of Denver for 307 beds in its distinctive Tower at West 38th Avenue and Interstate 25.

Now under renovation, the 18-story Tower will have affordable single, double, and four-person suites available.  The rooms will be fully furnished, have private bathrooms, and individual climate control. Monthly rent will start at $450 per student.

Rent includes all utilities, including basic cable TV, local telephone service, and high-speed internet access.  In addition a variety of meal plans will be available.  Reservation and application forms, drawings and pictures of the rooms, study, athletic and social facilities are now available at www.regencystudenthousing.com.

“We are converting what was the grand ballroom of the Regency Hotel into a 24,000 square-foot gymnasium that will include two college-size basketball courts, volleyball facilities and an adjacent fitness center including a weight room” said Mike Francone, student housing director for The Regency.

The Regency is located only two miles from campus and will provide a free bus shuttle to and from Auraria as well as free parking.

Other amenities include a night time security patrol, bike racks, secure building access, on-site management and maintenance staff, laundry facilities, swimming pool, game room with billiards, amphitheatre, dining hall, coffee shop and juice bar, convenience store, study and social areas, computer room, private meeting rooms and wireless Internet access areas.

Just across the lobby at the base of the Tower and easily seen from Interstate 25, the familiar gold-domed rotunda is being converted into a WiFi cafe and lounge, Francone said. The rotunda roof will be refurbished and resemble the white surface on the main terminal of DIA.

Interested students will soon be able take on-site tours of the facility, Francone said.  The Regency is in the process of hiring three Auraria students to serve as marketing assistants. They will conduct on-site tours and run The Regency’s booth in the Tivoli student union.

Francone also said The Regency will soon announce details of its Community Assistant (CA) program.  He expects to hire up to 12 students who will earn a free rent in exchange for supervising a group of student residents.
